Techniques of expression

The material’s fragility allows Jean Hirtzel to express the notion of fleetingness. He creates many pastels on tracing paper, the transparency of the media accentuating the impression of the ephemeral. 

The pastel work appears at the very beginning of his research on shamanism. Pastel represents a technique of expression frequently used in his experimentation on visions.
